Courses
Fall Course - Gateway Design
This course provides participants with information that can be used as they consider opportunities to design or redesign gateway courses. During the course, participants are introduced to approaches to gateway course design, practices they can adapt and use in their own course design or redesign process, and resources to help develop a plan for continuous course improvement.
Audience: The course is designed for any full- and part-time faculty member, as well as graduate teaching assistants, and professional staff and administrators who provide instructional support and faculty professional development.
Modality: Online with synchronous and asynchronous content; portions of meetings are recorded and those are available with other course content for the duration of the course.
Dates: November 4-December 2, 2024
Spring Course - Teaching for Impact
Teaching for Impact focuses on evidence-based practices shown to have a positive impact on student learning outcomes while also enriching the teaching experience. The emphasis is on tangible, student-centered strategies for designing and delivering courses with a rotating thematic focus reflecting current trends and concerns in higher education. The theme for the spring is on (Re)Engaging Our Students and Ourselves
Audience: The course is designed for any full- and part-time faculty (undergraduate and graduate-level), as well as graduate teaching assistants, and professional staff and administrators who provide instructional support and faculty professional development.
Modality: Online with synchronous and asynchronous content; portions of meetings are recorded and those are available with other course content for the duration of the course.

Summer Signature Course - The Humanity of Inclusive Practices
Through an introduction to theoretical frameworks and practice-based examples, participants are invited to reimagine their courses, toward the goal of creating deeper educational experiences that recognize the value and potential of every student while fostering an inclusive and responsive learning environment. During this course, participants identify a specific area of focus and create (and present) a Gallery Walk presentation that highlights the approach they will take as they move forward.
Audience: The course is designed for full- and part-time faculty (undergraduate and graduate-level), graduate teaching assistants, and professional staff and administrators who are interested in an intensive and immersive course design experience
Modality: Online with synchronous and asynchronous content; portions of meetings are recorded and those are available with other course content for the duration of the course.

Community of Practice
The Teaching and Learning Community meets every 4-6 weeks during the academic year, providing a virtual space where participants can receive support in their teaching practice. Discussions during the community meetings are facilitated by the Teaching and Learning Fellows and center on topics that are of interest to the participants. Topics for this year include: alternative approaches to grading/ungrading, feedback, fostering deeper learning and engagement through beautiful questions, mental health and well-being (student and faculty).
Participants who register for all three courses have access to a year-long Community of Practice.
